Message Settings
Hodie is match-first by design: only people you've matched with can message you. There are no unsolicited messages, no message requests from strangers, and no way to pay to message you without a match.
Who can message me?
- Matches only. A conversation opens only after you both like each other.
- No one else. People you haven't matched with can't contact you at all.
- Hodie may send you service messages (like safety notices) in the Messages tab.
Stop messages from someone
Two ways, both instant:
- Unmatch — open the conversation, tap …, choose Unmatch. The conversation closes for both of you and they can't message you again unless you both match again.
- Block — open their profile or conversation, tap …, choose Block. You disappear from each other's feeds permanently and all contact ends. They are not notified.
If their behaviour broke the rules, please also report them — it helps keep everyone else safe too.
Message notifications
To control how messages notify you, open Settings in the app and toggle Push notifications, or use iOS Settings → Notifications → Hodie for finer control (banners, sounds, badges).
Take a full break
Want to go quiet without deleting anything? Settings → Pause profile hides you from the feed; existing matches remain but you can step away as long as you like.
